RE: INTERNS

|

Well, well, well. Now Sunnyvale’s Steve Blow is interested in our interns. Over on the Bold Types blog, under the headline “All God’s (White and Perky) Children,” the DMN Metro columnist writes:

Personally, I would never be this snarky, but….

A multi-blog-reading correspondent has checked out the new crop of summer interns over on D magazine’s blog and he’s just bowled over by all the diversity represented there.

“Good to know D is leading the way in preparing tomorrow’s journalists…if we need more sorority news,” he says, snarkily.

For a second, after reading that, I got all outraged over the whole diversity for diversity’s sake thing and the stereotype that white women would only be qualified to write about sorority news and the idiocy of the implication that our internship program would somehow be better if our interns were less perky, more dour, I guess. Then I remembered that I’m a white male and I’ve got a 2:20 tee time tomorrow. Why should I be upset?

Ain’t life grand, Steve?
