HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS

This month, we write about a new program that seeks to eradicate chronic homelessness simply by providing apartments for those without them–rent free. (Scroll down). In other cities, it’s been found that housing the homeless is much cheaper than paying for their trips to the emergency room or county jail.

Anyway, getting Dallas’ program off the ground was contingent on a $12 million tax credit from the state. Councilwoman Angela Hunt is proud to report Dallas got the credit.
