NO LOVE FOR THE LITTLE PEOPLE

The front page of the New York Times Business section on Sunday had a story about how Neiman Marcus and other high-end department stores are doing away with their petite department. It sparked a barrage of letters from tiny, wealthy New England women (and the husband of one such woman) who say, basically, boo hoo. These little ladies want to shop at Neiman’s, but Neiman’s says the market’s just not big enough. The store plans to eliminate the petite department in all but two of its stores by fall.
