DALLAS ELECTION ON ARABIC TV

|

It’s true. Today is the runoff election in the Republican primary for Congressional District 30. A FBvian with a dog in the fight tells us about some unusual coverage of same:

The local news media may not have the slightest interest in it, but the entire Arabic-speaking world is about to hear about today’s vote. Al-Arabiya TV, the Dubai-based Pan-Arab 24-hour satellite news channel, has a film crew out at the DeSoto Town Center covering Amir Omar as he greets Republican voters showing up to cast their ballots in the run-off between Omar and Dallas lawyer Wilson Aurbach. Apparently, Al-Arabiya has interviewed both Omar and Aurbach. While perhaps not as controversial as it primary competitor, Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya made world-wide news when it was banned from Iraq by the interim government for purportedly engaging in “incitement to murder” in its broadcasts.
