MIMI SWARTZ’S CONSTITUTION

Thanks to the lawyering FrontBurnvians who have alterted me to Mimi Swartz’s article in the November issue of Texas Monthly. The article intersperses a detailed history of how business worked politically to get tort reform with woeful tales of injustice since the reforms were enacted. If anybody had any doubts as to Swartz’s leanings on the subject, they will be dispelled in the final paragraphs of the story when she writes:

“Now the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction–so far that the Legislature has usurped the lawmaking powers of the courts…”
