My colleagues undoubtedly scoff at my birding blogs, but, my loyal FrontBurnervian Birders–and they are a sizable flock in my inbox–I shall brave the office gossip and forge ahead. The season is changing slowly and my goldfinches are late. (My girlfriend (read: my friend who is female) says I’m impatient. (Me?) Last year, a family of 11 finches braved the winter in my backyard and I am (im)patiently waiting their return. In the meantime, I’ve seen a few yellow-rumped warblers pass through and this morning my resident Carolina wren was joined by three friends. Oh, the songs of winter. Let the backyard games begin. Quickly.
