PUNCHING RICK PERRY (AGAIN)

|

An anonymous column appears in today’s Quorum Report in the R&D section (sub. req.) that takes the governor apart for, well, just about everything relating to the special session(s). Two points are worth quoting:

TAXES: “Surely [Perry’s] consultants are not recommending an anti-business, anti-consumer and anti-public education trifecta.”

LEADERSHIP: “Keeping House and Senate members in [special] session for another week, month, year, decade . . . will encourage Senator Hutchison to change her mind. And she will beat you like a well-dressed step-child.”

But will voters who are most hurt by the Lege’s impending tax solutions (lower income, non-property owners who drive older cars that will need repairs) stand up and be heard? Sadly, no. And Perry and his crew understand that better than anything.
