You know what else you should never pay? Any type of traffic violation that the police didn’t actually see. E.g., you have a minor (non-serious injury) accident, someone calls the police and once they get there, you get a ticket (cops get pen happy in these situations). Usually, 18 months later, there will be no witnesses to go to court to say what happened. People move, people die, and the city does not have the time or money to find these people. And the police can’t testify because they never saw it. They just assume that you’ll be stupid enough to pay the fine because you don’t know any better. It’s a scam.
