Three New Restaurants and a Wine Lounge Will Open in Farmers Branch this Fall

This fall will be an exciting time for Farmers Branch residents.

Chef Tiffany Derry’s new Italian concept Radici is aiming for a winter opening, and we’re waiting with anticipation to make the trek up to Farmers Branch when the time comes. But it turns out, there will be a few more restaurants opening this fall prior to Radici’s arrival.

The new crop of restaurants includes local chains and entirely new concepts for North Texas. Two of them, as far as we know, look like they’ll be open late. Here’s a look at what’s coming to our overlooked neighbor.

Three Restaurants at Mercer Boardwalk

On the corner of I-635 and Luna Road, a budding strip development called Mercer Boardwalk will debut this fall with three new restaurants. Mercer Boardwalk is being developed by Centurion American Development Group, and it’s adjacent to Mercer Crossing, a massive project with single-family homes and apartments. At some point, Mercer Boardwalk will expand to include eight or more spaces for restaurants and retail concepts, according to a press release.

Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse

The local chain will open its fourth location in addition to ones in Carrollton, The Colony, and North Dallas. They’re known for their giant menu of barbecued meats, including smoked brisket and sausages, shared items like Texas Twinkies (bacon-wrapped jalapeños with brisket, cream cheese, and a stout glaze), and a massive whiskey list. Their barbecue brunch items also stun, like the hefty and sweet n’ salty brisket Montecristo. Barrel & Bones’ other locations are open until 2 a.m., making this a new late-night spot.

Black Agave Cocina y Cantina

The restaurant will serve Tex-Mex cuisine with a tequila and mezcal program. Not much is known about what the menu looks like, but a press release says the meals will be served family-style with dishes made with seafood, beef, pork, and chicken.

Dough Bro’s To Go

The other locations of Dough Bro’s Italian Kitchen & Bar in North Dallas, Plano, and Bedford are dine-in, but this new location at Mercer Boardwalk will be to-go only. The full pizza, sandwiches, and pasta menu will be available for takeout or through a third-party delivery service.

All the Mercer Boardwalk restaurants will be located at 1980 LBJ Fwy., Farmers Branch.

Locals Craft Beer & Fine Wine

A new wine, beer, and cocktail lounge and shop called Locals will open on Bee Street in October, just a few doors down from Roots Southern Table and what will be Radici. It’ll be a place where co-owner Traci Williams says guests can connect with each other in a concept that hasn’t been done yet in Farmers Branch.

Locals will have regional wines and local brews mixed in with its beverage program. The market will have more than 250 labels and 1,500 bottles of wine such as Pendulum, Pale Rose 21, and Sena 09. The beers will feature brews from local breweries like Manhattan Project’s Key Lime Pie Bikini Atoll, 3 Nation’s Royal Blood and Peticolas’ Velvet Hammer.

The lounge will be right next door, and it’ll serve small bites, cocktails, beer, and wine. The lounge will have a more traditional cocktail bar experience, while the market will be available for group events and tastings. 13050 Bee St., Ste. 100 and 120, Farmers Branch.
