Over the last year, some promising restaurant developments have been announced for Irving, particularly in the Las Colinas community. The latest news comes from the folks at Front Burner Restaurants, popular Plano restaurant Whiskey Cake will open in Irving early next year.

Irving’s Whiskey Cake will be located at 3225 Regent Blvd., where it joins a number of new businesses including the entertainment-dining complex, Pinstack, and the upscale Indian concept, India 101. The group behind Whiskey Cake is not a stranger to Irving, however, as their sister restaurant, The Ranch at Las Colinas, has been a staple in these parts for years.

Opening dates are generally difficult to accurately pin down at this stage, but the restaurant hopes for an early March 2018 arrival.

For the most part, the menu here will mirror what’s happening at the Plano location. They’ll be running brunch, lunch, and dinner. Popular dishes include their “3 Little Pigs” (a plate of crispy pork belly sliders), Thai barbecue duck wings, fried green tomatoes, and the “OMG burger” crowned with a massive onion ring, cremini mushrooms, and muenster cheese. But honestly, their namesake dessert, the “whiskey cake” — a hot and gooey toffee torte with bourbon anglaise, spiced pecans, and whipped cream — may be the most enticing offering on the menu.

The restaurant will continue to honor their commitment to supporting local farms and producers as much as possible. Scott Sharrer, vice president of operations, states, “With such close proximity to Plano we will have a great opportunity to double the amount of business we provide to our local partners.”

The new location will be most distinguished by its craft cocktail program. Sharrer says, “Plano has a very extensive selection, but we have added space in the new building to allow for an even larger selection of whiskeys. It should be one of the largest whiskey libraries in the DFW area.”

TheLas Colinas Whiskey Cake location coincides with the arrival of over two dozen restaurant openings in the area, mostly centered around the new Toyota Music Factory. The massive entertainment and dining development will play host to an impressive line-up of eateries, including The Thirsty Lion Gastropub, Gloria’s Latin Cuisine, Grimaldi’s, Top Round Roast Beef, Martini Ranch, Boi Na Braza Brazilian Steakhouse, and many more.
