It’s hard to believe the Windmill Lounge has only been around for 12 years. Stepping into this dive-y bar is like slipping back in time. Founder Louise Owens has sold the bar to Lisa and Tom Georgalis and the Triada Hospitality Group, owners of the Ivy Tavern.

In a brief note, Owens writes: “After shattering my wrist in a car wreck shortly before Christmas it became very apparent that trying to run the Windmill as a one-person show was not going to work anymore and I’m delighted to join with Tom and Lisa so that I can be a creative person and not there mopping floors and changing light bulbs.  It’s been a fabulous 12 years – which in bar year is about a gazillion years – and I am glad to be working with a team to keep the Windmill alive and kicking into the 2020s. Damn – that is the future!”

The bar will not close and Triada Hospitality Group don’t plan on re- concepting the space. Changes to the menu will come within a month or two. Expect chef-driven pizzas, wings, and salads. Craft cocktails will remain the focus, but the wine and selections will be improved.

The patio will get a new look and the exterior will get a few touch-ups. And if you must have a laptop in a bar, they are adding internet just for you. Happy hour will be long and generous-from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and daily discounted specials every day of the week will continue.
