The persona of John Tesar is one of bravado. Such stated, it should surprise no one that when it comes to philanthropy, this chef goes big. Come Monday, June 1, Tesar will host the first of five consecutive fundraising dining experiences benefiting EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES, a nonprofit founded nearly a decade ago by U2’s Bono (RED) and Bobby Shriver.
With Mario Batali acting as national culinary patriarch, EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES represents a noble awareness campaign dedicated towards the research and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Each unique dinner, spanning from June 1 through June 5, will be co-hosted by a distinguished chef, starting with Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue in Austin. As you probably already know, Franklin was recently minted Best Chef in the Southwest by the James Beard Foundation. To follow are Alex Stratta (JBF Winner Best Chef Southwest, Las Vegas), Naomi Pomeroy (Beast, Portland), Tim Rattray (The Granary ‘Cue & Brew, San Antonio) and Kris Morningstar (Terrine, Los Angeles).
Each dinner is hosted in a private room within The Highland hotel, home to Tesar’s acclaimed Knife, both of which will be elegantly, and appropriately, dressed in red. Capped at 40 persons per event, tickets are set at $150 per head, inclusive of beverages and gratuities. Dinner begins at 7pm and 50 percent of each ticket benefits EAT (RED) DRINK (RED) SAVE LIVES. The Highland is also providing rooms at a discounted rate, part of which goes to the cause, for those who wish to make an evening of the fundraiser.
Purchase your tickets by calling Knife at 214.443.9339, or here.
