Carnival Barker’s Ice Cream will be the latest addition to Jim Lake’s burgeoning Jefferson Tower redo, joining a host of other restaurants and shops.

The creamery will be a “combination speciality ice cream shop and art gallery,” Lake said. “That has to be the first time I’ve ever heard that sentence,” I said. “Yeah, it will be interesting,” Lake responded.

The creamery/gallery is expected to open in the first quarter of 2015, joining:

– Small Brewpub (soft opening this weekend)
– Cultivar Coffee (first stand-alone location)
– JD’s BBQ (new concept)

The building will also include a convenience store, a specialty clothing store, a local-based Mexican mercado, and, eventually, a music venue associated with Small. Lake opted to renew the leases of other businesses that were already there, including Gonzales restaurant, a barber shop, and a jeweler.
