Trinity Groves’ second retail incubator, Cake Bar, is a dessert bar and retail shop with “a large selection of traditional, southern-style, made-from-scratch-cake and confections” that can be eaten on the spot or taken to go. Choose from 16 kinds of cake, a variety of pound cakes, quick breads, cookies, and ice cream.

Owner-operator Tracy German was selling cakes out of her home kitchen for a while with word-of-mouth business. “People tasted one slice and came back to order a whole cake…It was wonderful but I quickly outgrew my home kitchen,” German says.

Mike Babb, owner-operator of Babb Bros BBQ & Blues, encouraged her to take some samples of her cakes to the Trinity Groves offices, and the method worked. “I believe I got a ‘yes’ because I went to their stomachs first.”

Styles like Key Lime, Hummingbird, and Old Fashioned Chocolate will be available. You can buy a whole cake or just grab a slice to enjoy right then. Tracy and her team will also do custom orders and custom decorations. They offer 5-inch and 8-inch rounds, half sheets and full sheets.

The store will also carry cupcakes, pound cakes, quick breads, cookies, bread puddings, brownies, and ice creams. They will have coffee, espresso drinks, sodas, milk, water, and juices.

Products from the Jelly Queens will also be sold. An Austin- and Dallas-based company, it specializes in organic jams, jellies and sauces, handmade in small batches using locally-grown Texas produce, each infused with beer, wine, or champagne.

Cake Bar will be open Monday – Thursday 11 AM – 9 PM, Friday & Saturday 11 AM – 11 PM and Sunday 12 PM – 6 PM. It’s located next to Kate Weiser Chocolate on the North side of the terminal building.
