Where to Watch This Weekend’s Red River Rivalry Between Texas and Oklahoma in Dallas

photography by Jason Janik

You might watch the Red River Rivalry (née Shootout) match between Texas and O.U. on Saturday because you bleed crimson (or burnt orange). Or because you’re an alumnus or alumna, and it just feels like the right thing to tune in. Then again, perhaps you’re only in it for the excuse to get rowdy during the day. No matter your reasons, you can count on these spots for a good time, if you’re not lucky enough to be at the Cotton Bowl when the game kicks off at noon, we’ve got the 10 best spots for seeing the game.

The Quarter Bar & Grill in Addison will have a great event going on all day as well for those up North!

  • Get started early with a tailgate W style Friday night; barbecue dinner with cocktail (or beer) $20 5-9 p.m., and live music from former OU player TJ Hamilton.

  • The Corner Bar is definitely deserving of the Top Ten! This will be the 10th year hosting the Texas/Oklahoma game-watching throw down. The parking lot is blocked off all weekend with live music and DJs on Friday and Saturday. There’s team-colored Jell-O shots, a patio bar, 2 big screens outside and 13 more inside, Boones Farm, pizza by the slice, awesome mini burgers, team-colored shot specials, free team-colored leis and Corner Bar Koozies upon entry, ice cold beer tubs and tons of extra seating inside and out. The list goes on and on, but hopefully that’s enough to grab your attention 🙂

  • Come to the Hub in Addison (Beltline just west of Midway). Too many tv’s to count and a golf simulator.

  • Owners box in omni dallas 70 HDTV? yeah i like to think so

  • Knox Street Pub is hosting the official “Bash Before the Clash” Friday night from 6PM-2AM. Armstrong Avenue will be fenced off with live music, multiple bars, DJ Chris Tracy, and the UT Cheerleaders. For more information, visit http://dallastexasexes.org/2012/08/2012-bash-before-the-clash/2422

  • I’m surprised Twisted Root isn’t on this list. That’s the closest to State Fair food deliciousness you can get without the hassle of actually being AT the State Fair during rivalry week. Especially since The Stand closed down. And the atmosphere is fun.
