KRLD Restaurant Week 2012: Reader Reviews

Hey, where are you people? It’s day three of KRLD Restaurant Week and we want to read your reviews. I was out there last night checking out parking lots. You are eating, so please consider writing about your experiences. Tip your servers and if they are exceptional, snap their picture, take down their name, and allow us to adore them.

    Last night was my first night to dine for KRLD- first experience at Crescent Club. Food was good- recommend the baby wedge with blu cheese dressing, and the Godiva chocolate cake with sorbet. The manhattan strip (Texas beef) with foie gras demi was the popular entree at our table and was cooked to perfection. I wish they would have offered a few of their more well-known entrees (like the tenderloin or lamb) but I was pleased with my meal overall.

    The odd part of our experience was being one of only two tables there for the entire evening; total of 6 people in their large (silent) dining room. The wait staff outnumbered the guests. So, if you enjoy quiet dining, I bet they still have a few spaces left 🙂 Oh, and the view from the top of the Crescent cannot be beat- we had a great view of the skyline as the storms rolled in.

    Our first pick this year, was Seasons 52 on Monday night. I liked the idea that they change their menu 4 times a year based on seasons and all of the restaurant’s entrees are no more than 475 calories. I will say I was a little aprehensive on the calorie note but the flavors were exceptional and there was more than enough food. My friends and I always order an array of items so that we may try everything. Everything on the RW menu was fabulous. Pair that with exceptional service and you have a great evening. We will definetly be back again.

    We ate at The French Room. Service was extremely attentive (as it always is) and in no way did we feel as though Restaurant Week visitors were “less thans.” The food was excellently prepared – all in all, one of the best RW experiences we’ve had in the last five years.

    Big smiles and empty plates all around the table at Roy’s last night. Most of the items on the Restaurant Week menu are direct pulls from the regular menu, and served full size at that, so really it doesn’t feel like a “Restaurant Week” experience at all. Just a fun evening with warm, attentive service and expertly prepared food.

    Highly recommend: macadamia-crusted brie cake, Korean-style short rib, chocolate souffle cake, and the Sunrise roll (4th course coupon or $5 add-on).

    This is my first time to participate in Restaurant Week. Had a fabulous meal and great service at Al Biernat’s (as always). Went to dinner at Charlie Palmer’s at the Joule and it was mostly dead. Our food was delicious however the service and courses were slow in coming. I felt like we were there an hour more than we should have been especially since there were not many people in the restaurant.

    Dinner at III Forks – We had the filet with pink peppercorn sauce. They were all perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. Also pan seared trout – so good! The soup, salads, and desserts were all good too. As always, the entrees were served with III Forks’ delicious side dishes – “off the cob” creamed corn, crispy sugar snap peas, and really tasty herbed mashed potatoes. Portions are generous, even during Restaurant Week. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. I’m a bit leery of Restaurant Week, but III Forks was wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening.

    Had dinner at the Pyramid Room in the Fairmont hotel and had a great meal. The food was excellent. There is an emphasis on fresh ingredients (many are grown on the Fairmont rooftop). I had the salmon and my husband had the short rib. Our server (shawn) was excellent. The hostess and the manager were equally pleasant. The restaurant had a nice crowd for a Tuesday night. It seemed most were RW customers, hopefully many will go back.
