After Lia Oberstar-Brown of Richardson retired from professional swimming, she got fat. She joined Weight Watchers and wrote about her journey back to Skinny Town in the January issue of Good Housekeeping (sorry, no link). Lia “has been named a finalist of the 2008 Weight Watchers Inspiring Stories of the Year” contest which one awesome title Oprah can’t claim. Oh, and Oprah, dig this: Lia not only dropped the pounds, she “maintained it and set a national record at the Spring Master’s Swimming Nationals!” Whatever that is. Can anyone else out there beat that with a fried mozzarella stick?
