Lunch Deal: Truluck’s

Carrot CakeLast week, my friends and I went to Truluck’s to celebrate a birthday. We’d been for dinner, but never lunch—and we were pleasantly surprised.

If you’re looking for a big meal (at a small price), Truluck’s offers decent lunch specials, including a three-course “power combo” for only $19.99. I ordered the wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon, the grilled salmon (cooked to perfection) with parmesan mashed potatoes, and the dessert of the day was a divine slice of carrot cake (about 1/5 the size of their typical jumbo portion, but still more than enough for lunch).

They gave the birthday girl a thick slice of dense, moist chocolate cake (One of the last free birthday treats in town?), and our server lit the candle on top and walked away. Perfect.

Now, I know Truluck’s is a chain, and we could have gone somewhere more Dallas-centric, but the attentive service and reasonable price made for a great lunch.
