(A slew of fun at is going down at Oil and Cotton, and you could win some of it.)

We told you about last Saturday’s ArtSpark event at NorthPark as part of Dallas Arts Week, but we didn’t share all the other cool happenings going on during the community-wide celebration of Dallas arts.

So we’re doing that now…Oh and we’re throwing in a little giveaway too.

First the Dallas Art Week details. Mayor Mike Rawlings and the Dallas Cultural Affairs Commission joined forces to create the week-long campaign designed to create energy around our city’s cultural renaissance. Dallas Arts Week coincides with a slew of art events around town including last weekend’s Deep Ellum Arts Festival and the aforementioned ArtsPark as well as Dallas Art Fair, Dallas Art Ball, Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month, Target Second Saturday at the Latino Cultural Center, new public art works at Love Field Airport, and Dallas International Film Festival.

There’s also a very fun Dallas Arts Week photo contest to encourage everyone to participate in the arts in some way. All you have to do is take a photo of an art-inspired/cultural activity (i.e. a museum visit, a concert, your kiddo’s art project…the sky’s the limit) and post it to social media using the hashtag #DallasArtsWeek by this Sunday, April14, and you’ll be entered in the contest. Oh and the prizes are pretty darn awesome (think: an overnight stay at The Ritz-Carlton and the Fairmont, memberships to cultural institutions and performances, and more). You can get full details on the contest here.

(*Update: Some clarification on the photo contest per our Dallas Arts Week friends: You can enter the contest through the “Photo Contest” tab on the Dallas Arts Week Facebook page or on Twitter and Instagram by uploading a photo on your account and using the hashtag #DallasArtsWeek.)

Ok now for the giveaway. Dallas Arts Week is giving one D Moms Daily reader a $40 one-day kids art camp gift certificate to Oil and Cotton

Just leave a comment on this post about your favorite cultural/artful activity to do with your littles, and I’ll pick a winner this Friday, April 12.

Happy art making.
