into the weekend…

Yes, our littles still wake-up at the crack of dawn on weekends…It’s a bad scene.  But one distinct upside is the fact that we always beat the brunch crowd.  We’ll be using our early-bird advantage on Saturday by tucking into omelettes and bloody marys before heading down the street with the kiddos to see Robert Polidori’s Parcours Muséologique Revisité exhibit (which was highly recommended by several friends) at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary.

Polidori’s magical saturated photographs capture the restoration of the royal palace of Versailles… Perfect for our eight-year-old shutterbug/francophile.

Hurry, it ends on Saturday!

See it: MAC/3120 McKinney Avenue/Saturday 11:00-9:00

We’re also committed to making our holiday as mellow and chaos-free as possible this year.  Which (for me) equals avoiding the mall as much as humanly possible.  To that end, I’m hoping to hit Oil and Cotton on Saturday for their Second Annual Holiday Mercantile featuring original, handmade, re-purposed, unique gifts… And next door in their Annex space, the Creative Flea Market will host Dallas graphic artists showcasing and selling their wares in a one-day show.

Go: Oil and Cotton/837 W. 7th Street/Saturday noon-6:00

There’s also a very enticing pop-up shop happening at The Dallas Contemporary on Saturday featuring prints from past and current collections along with a nice selection of high-end art books for all the art aficionados on your list.

Go: The Dallas Contemporary/161 Glass Street/Saturday 11:00-6:00
