PLAYS AT CHEER

More than ten productions of The Nutcracker are on in Dallas this December, but the Texas Ballet Theater’s professional production, held at the Winspear Opera house until 12/3 and Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall from 12/8-24, is one of the most elaborate in the country. Find tickets here.

As a part of the Broadway Series 2017-2018 Season, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will be at the Winspear from 12/5-12/17. Come see your favorite holiday villain in a live, family friendly show.

Dallas Theater Center presents A Christmas Carol, which runs until 12/28 at Wyly Theatre in Downton Dallas. Friday Night Lights’ Brad Leland stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in this enduring Christmas classic. Flying ghosts and falling snow are promised.

A short run of Irving Berlin’s stage adaption of the film White Christmas is at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Get your tickets now for this spirit-filled Broadway musical–it’s only in town from 12/5-12/10.

BRASS, KEYS & VOICES

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s annual Christmas Pops concert features the Dallas Symphony Chorus at the Meyerson Symphony Center from 12/1-12/17. Matinee performances will also include the Children’s Chorus of Dallas.

Also at the Meyerson: The Big Brassy Christmas & Organ Extravaganza collects members of the DSO Brass and Percussion sections. A special treat: the Lay Family Concert Organ will be joining the sections for an evening of Christmas cheer.

The Richardson Symphony Orchestra and the dynamic voices of the Turtle Creek Chorale join to present a night of holiday classics. Check out the transcendental music experience on 12/2 at the Eisemnann Center for Performing Arts.

The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Home for the Holidays, a performance featuring all of your favorite seasonal songs at the Bass Performance Hall 11/24-11/26. Word is that a man in a red and white suit will be making an appearance.

A performance of the German masterpiece Handel’s Messiah, presented by the Dallas Bach Society, is at the Meyerson on 12/18. Don’t miss this Dallas tradition, complete with a chorus and an orchestra.

PLASTIC TREES

If you’d prefer spending the holidays singing and dancing, KISS FM’s annual Jingle Ball is where it happens en masse. Held at the American Airlines Center on 11/28, this year’s Jingle Ball features The Chainsmokers, Kesha, and Niall Horan among others.

If you’re in for something different, the bombastic Trans-Siberian Orchestra will be in town for two performances of The Ghosts of Christmas Eve on 12/22 at the American Airlines Center.
