Otis Jones + Bret Slater at Holly Johnson Gallery — May 17, 6-8 p.m. 1411 Dragon St. Dallas, TX 75207.

This exhibition brings together the old master, Otis Jones, and his young protégé, Bret Slater — only don’t describe that dichotomy to the pair, they reject it. Instead, Jones and Slater speak of a deep friendship forged around a mutual respect for each other’s work that grew out of Slater’s work as a gallery assistant for Jones. Now that Slater has decamped Dallas for New York, he reunites with his artistic father figure for a show that will also travel to New York and Zurich this summer. If you want to know more about the connection between these two artists, check out this feature from 2012.
