It was a stylish night at the Fashion Industry Gallery when the ladies of the Junior League of Dallas paired up with D Magazine for Rock the Runway. The sold-out party featured a silent auction, raffle, food from several local restaurants, and cocktails. But the main attraction was the fashion show featuring dresses made out of D Magazine and D Home covers. Local designers Abi Ferrin, Oscar Fierro, Patti Flowers, Shemara Jeyarajah, and Khanh Nguyen were given several weeks to complete an original dress featuring the D Magazine or D Home cover of their choice. Models Amy Vanderoef, Tina Craig, Victoria Snee, Tracy Rathbun, and Aishya Spears walked (very carefully) down the runway while judges Stephanie Quadri, Elaine Raffel, Donnie Brown, Shirin Askari, and Kate Wagner took diligent notes. The winner? Abi Ferrin, who designed a gown out of D Home’s Best of Everything cover (January/February 2010). If you missed the soiree but still would like to see the dresses, they are on display at Dillard’s NorthPark until Friday, April 16.
