ERIC CELESTE IS ALREADY LOOKING FOR HIS NEXT JOB

|

In our August issue (not yet online), Eric writes about Lori Lewis, the Colleyville mom who blew the whistle on the Colleyville Heritage steroid scandal. It’s a good story, and anyone with eyes should read it.

Comes now, though, even more exciting news about Eric. He’s got a new job. What was it, a month ago that he left the Observer to bring his special sauce to American Way? And stole Zac Crain from the Observer to help him serve up that sauce? Yeah, well, apparently AmWay didn’t suit him either. Now he’s moved on to Spirit, the in-flight for Southwest (which, oddly, is also published by American Airlines). And the funny part is, now he’s stolen yet another Observer employee.

Message to Observer: rehire Eric before he demolishes the entire paper.

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES SPIRIT MAGAZINE NAMES NEW EDITORS

FORT WORTH, Texas — Southwest Airlines Sprit® magazine recently welcomed two new editorial employees — Eric Celeste as editor and Rhonda Reinhart as managing editor.

A 15-year veteran journalist, Eric Celeste joins Spirit as editor after serving as a senior editor at American Way magazine. Prior to that, he’d held various editorial positions at D Magazine, the Dallas Observer and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and was founding editor of the alternative weekly The Met.

Celeste comes home to roost with Spirit after writing his first major magazine profile on the Dixie Chicks for it eight years ago. He has won three Press Club of Dallas “Katie” awards for his writing, including one for a Spirit cover story “The Neverhood.” Last month he won a national first-place AAN Altweekly Award for media reporting.

Previously an editorial operations manager for the Dallas Observer, Rhonda Reinhart joins Spirit as managing editor. She held similar positions at The Huntsville Item and The Bryan-College Station Eagle.

Celeste reports to Spirit publisher, Susan Hicks. Reinhart reports to Celeste.
