A paying FrontBurnervian passes along these comments on the West Texas subdivision:

Sometimes I just don’t understand how people think. First, unless this subdivision is a completely guarded, secure compound 100 miles from the nearest town, it’s not going to make a bit of difference. Even then, unless these restrictions are covenants that run with the land, how will you enforce them against subsequent purchasers? And do I really need to mention renters and house guests? “Fining” someone is not going to prevent the harm they’re seeking to enjoin. This is an insane idea which accomplishes nothing more than to lull residents into a false sense of security.
