DALLAS MUSIC FACTOID

|

Last week the mention of the Medallion Theater sparked a twinge of nostalgia for several FrontBurnervians. Someone mentioned Cardi’s. I mentioned that before Cardi’s the building housed the swinging club, Bijou. Yesterday a certified in-the-know music man who loves beef called with a winning story:

Here’s a little known fact about the Bijou. There was a band call the Meters that had just broken up and some of the members formed a new band and practiced in an apartment in Oak Lawn. Then they played the Bijou every night for a month in the summer of ’77 before they got the courage to play their home town of New Orleans. They called themselves the Neville Brothers.

Is this a great city or what? GO MAVS.
