This year, Population Connection’s annual video contest drew submissions from more than 5,000 students in 35 countries and 46 U.S. states and territories. And remarkably, not one, but two of the winners are students from our very own Coppell.
Sophia Greenberg of Coppell High School won $1,000 and first place in the category Ensuring Economic Opportunities for her film “When We Help Women.” Meanwhile, Rishika Pillai and Ana Jesayen of Coppell Middle School won $250 and second place in the category Sustaining Water Systems for their film “Global Effects of Agricultural Pollution.”
Population Connection is a nonprofit organization focused on educating the next generation on population growth and sustainable solutions, which includes increased access to family planning education and contraceptives. (I personally have some issues with the idea of population control, but I think we can all agree that kids coming up with sustainable solutions for the challenges presented by population growth is a good thing.)
