Beginning at 10 a.m. this morning, if you get a strange and immediate craving for a corny dog, it’s because your body senses that the creepily-smirky host of the State Fair of Texas is finally back in town. Big Tex will be erected by a crane today, and if you’ve got the kind of boss who will let you leave work to go see something like that, you should go check it out.
Big Tex will be in the Circle in Fair Park, as usual. And for a guy who had his whole face burned off, he’s looking pretty great these days. He denies that he has had any work done, but a press release sent to us by the State Fair of Texas reveals the truth.
“The famous mascot of the State Fair of Texas received a spiffy new Dickies® shirt and pair of jeans to enhance his Texan spirit. With his trademark Texan style and friendly wave, Big Tex will be waiting to greet his loyal fans on Opening Day with his signature “Howdy, Folks!””
The PR folks from the State Fair of Texas are super proud of the stats about the newer and improved-er Big Tex, so we’ll share those with you below. Note the four-foot difference in the inseam. “Howdy folks,” indeed.
