Top Five Weekend “Facebook Garage Sale” Finds

Not everything can be a "want."

Let’s take a moment to talk about a little something most active Facebook users and online shoppers have discovered. I’m talking about a Facebook Garage Sale. When asked to describe one of Dallas’ Facebook Garage Sales to an interested New Yorker, I said it was a bit like Craigslist, but more selective and most definitely safer.

From lightly used treasures to dumpster bound duds, I’m constantly intrigued by the items that pop up in the group feeds, so today, we’re rounding up the top five coolest (or strangest) finds on one of my favorites: Lakewood & White Rock Garage Sale. Let’s see what the long weekend produced, shall we?

sydney

“Sydney” Letters ($5)

My name isn’t Sydney. I don’t actually even know a Sydney. But if my name was Sydney, I’d jump on these crazy colorful letters like white on rice. Oddly enough, these sold to a woman named Jennifer.

Cinderella The Little Mermaid on Blue Ray ($15 for each, $20 for the set)

Somebody “bumped” these. Maybe it was the Blue Ray. (That never did really catch on with the ferocity that Blue Ray’s inventor had probably hoped for.) But you guys, these are the classics, and they’ve never been used! Act fast before Disney puts them into their mysterious “vault.”

Patron David Yurman Limited Edition Bottle Stopper

Patron David Yurman Limited Edition Bottle Stopper ($25)

Do you dig Patron? How about David Yurman? Maybe you just like things that are limited edition. (No shame in that game). If the former three things pique your interest, than this bottle stopper designed for the 2013 holiday season is for you! The sellers even provide a nice little link to prove its limited edition coolness. Personally, I just think it would be fun to pull that bottle stopper out of your Patron bottle in an extravagant sword drawing fashion. En garde! And drink up!

cupcake bank

Cupcake Money Bank ($5)

This reminds me of someone Mindy Lahiri would have in her apartment or office. It’s kind of like the epitome of cuteness. Cupcake… check. Strawberry… check. Rhinestones… check, check, and check.

ballet bar

Fitness Ballet Bar ($50)

If you, like me, were not the prima ballerina of your last barre class, this would be an excellent way to practice your demi plié in the privacy of your own home. Apparently Facebook garage sale shoppers agreed; this thing was popular! Ultimately, a thrifty haggler got it down to $30.
