Scared of Wallpaper? Never Fear, We Have Options…

I have friend who is pretty darn fearless when it comes to matters of home decor. She mixes seemingly discordant patterns with aplomb; she’ll slap a coat of black paint on a room without blinking an eye. She’s got moxie to spare that one.

But (and you knew this was coming) she’s scared of wallpaper. Big time.

I understand, I do. Wallpaper is daunting. The good stuff is expensive. It’s hard to install, and once it’s up, you really, really don’t want to take it down. It’s a commitment. But done right, it can transform a room in ways that paint can’t even dream of. (Sorry paint, but it’s true.)

It’s a conundrum this wallpaper thing. But good news, there are a couple of intriguing options out there that might manage to provide wallpaper’s bang without all the angst.

Here goes:

First up, Anthropologie’s  Etched Arcadia mural (pictured above). It has that sort of timeless scenic thing going that would look amazing in a dining room (in fact, I’m digging it so much, I might pull the trigger on it for my own dining room). And, according to the Anthropologie website, it boasts “SureStrip backing for paste-fee application and easy removal”. It seems promising, for sure.

Then we have EasyChange wallpaper from Sherwin Williams. Design blogger Jordan Ferney used a particularly fetching pattern in her entry hall to great effect. In her low-down on the process, she notes that while it wasn’t easy to apply, it’s ideal for renters because it comes right off. She also (rightly) notes that the Sherwin William’s website navigation is terrible, so if you want to find the exact paper that Jordan used, it’s pattern number: SW8EG5315.

So…Anyone feel a weekend wallpaper project coming on??
