Denton’s own returns.

Tonight marks the return of the Denton-born jazz outfit Snarky Puppy after winning the Grammy for Best R&B performance for the song “Something.” It’s not technically an award tour, but it feels close.

The big band will pack the stage and shake the floors of Prophet Bar, which seems to be a favored venue whenever they come our way. If you’ve never seen them live, it’s a treat—and you should seize this opportunity. Branda Magda and The Groovebumps open. Plus, Cane Rosso is conveniently right around the corner.

Meanwhile, the touring production of everyone’s favorite high school musical, Godspell, begins its run at the Winspear Opera House. It takes its cue from Biblical parables and intersperses them with song and dance. It’s not a personal favorite, but I can’t deny its long-lasting family appeal. In related news, the AT&T Performing Arts Center released its 2014-2015 season last night, and it includes the return of Book of Mormon. Other good stuff, too, like the movie-turned-actually-quite-good musical Once, but there’s no way Book of Mormon won’t go gangbusters like it did last year. I’m telling you so you can be on high alert for tickets.
