If you’re looking for Halloween-themed activities, I aim to please.
It’s been pretty nice out these last couple of days, which makes it a not-terrible time to go for an outdoor concert. Popular cover band Le Cure makes an appearance at Klyde Warren Park tonight in honor of the park’s one year anniversary. I, too, can’t believe it’s been a whole year. And now that Savor has opened its doors, the whole thing is officially dunzo. The free concert starts at 8 p.m., but arrive early to pick out a plum picnic spot. Anniversary activities will continue throughout the weekend.
In Deep Ellum, the Dallas Observer hosts a comedy crawl with Paul Varghese, who endeared himself to me permanently by calling his first comedy album “Paul and Oates.” It’s a bar crawl, plus a traveling, drinking funny person. A real one, not the amateur comedian rounding out your friend circle. You’ll follow Varghese and a couple other jokesters from the Green Room to Anvil Pub to Twilite Lounge to Three Links. I’m not so much a fan of stand up, but even I don’t hate this idea. Can you tell that I’m feeling the understatements today? I took some cold medicine last night and then stayed up until 3 a.m. just listening to songs from The Last Five Years. Don’t judge me. This thing is also free! You just have to buy your own drinks.
Finally, your daily Hitchcock. The Angelika screens North by Northwest this evening. According to his exhaustive ranking of the director’s films, Jason thinks this one falls in the overrated camp. I still think it’s worth seeing for yourself.
