Leading Off (9/3/08): No Jokes Edition

|

1. Kevin Moriarty made his much-anticipated Dallas Theater Center debut last night. The new director promised to shake up the Kalita Humphreys Theater with his production of The Who’s Tommy. And that he did. Lawson Taitte’s review could hardly have been more glowing.

2. Dallas Fire-Rescue was again hit by thieves who this time stole a radio, fireman’s helmet, department gear bag, and flashlight from a North Dallas station. State Senator John Carona, for one, is sick of it.

3. Julie Turner, chairwoman of the Crystal Charity Ball Fashion Show and Luncheon, to be held September 11, has set a new fund-raising record for the gig: $765,000. The most expensive seats go for $2,000, and 200 people ponied up for one.
