A disagreeing FrontBurnervian (and surely not the only one) points out that Chuck went after the stereotypes in Dallas. As he writes:
But you really need to hear the whole song, I think it makes the writer’s point although I disagree with it. I get tired about these generalizations that don’t apply to a single person I spend time with. I was at the Vickery Meadows center Wednesday night with about 15 lawyers volunteering their free time to give legal advice to the Mexican and Ethiopian immigrant population of the area. Last week, I was in deep ellum with a room full of really talented musicians at Club Dada, playing their hearts out to a crowd of people, all of who are fun, caring interesting people. My 16 year old was at a yoga studio with homeless advocates and artists and earlier this week, and that’s just a couple random weeks. I’ll be hefting a guiness with some good friends in about an hour. Too bad he didn’t see the Dallas I see every day. It has its problems to be sure, but all in all, I wouldn’t trade my friends here for a view of mountains and bays…I really wouldn’t. The Dallas I know bears no resemblance to the one described by this writer. Not the one I spend time in anyway. Just depends on where you spend your time.
