DISNEY: THE RUMOR THAT WON’T DIE

|

Last night my teenage daughter landed at the dinner table and gave us all the news that Disney was building a new theme park in Frisco, Texas. It seems her friend’s dad is a real estate broker who “knows all about it.” Well, sorry, but such rumors have been floating around Disney message boards for the last six years. So far, no Tinkerbell. What fuels the rumors (other than wishful thinking) is that North Texas is the only U.S. spot with the combination of year-round temperate climate, available acreage, airport/hotel infrastructure, and definable culture that a Disney theme park would require. More likely is that the area could be an attractive spot for a much smaller DVC (Disney Vacation Club) with a western theme.
