If the way the secretary at Valley Ranch just spoke to me is any indication, they’re real tense out there. I called to speak to Rich Dalrymple, the head of media relations, because we’ve been exchanging e-mail without result.

SECRETARY: “Dallas Cowboys media relations.”

ME: “Hi, this is Tim Rogers at D Magazine for Rich.”

SECRETARY: “Um, he’s not in the office. He’s in Nashville, for the Super Bowl decision, you stupid twit.”

Okay, she didn’t call me a stupid twit. But she may as well have. Her voice was dripping with condescension. And fear.
