Tomorrow is your night to hang out with the architectural preservation gurus and find out why the old Statler Hilton Hotel is 11th on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Most Endagered Landmarks” list and why it is worth saving. Our love affair with all things mid century modern should at the very least get people to sit up and notice. It was an icon of 1950s architecture and style, and really quite innovative for the time – considered the first “modern hotel”. The talk is Tuesday at 6:30 at Dallas Center for Architecture, 1909 Woodall Rodgers #100, and the speaker is Marcel Quimby. Great pics of style and glamour from the 50s.
