The Dallas Zoo Gift Shop has more animals on board than Noah’s Ark. Perched on one long shelf inside the cobblestoned cottage is an array of furry, stuffed creatures: they’re almost as numerous as the zoo’s growling, chattering inhabitants. There are crocodile sunglasses; baby rhinos, elephants, and kangaroos molded from terra cotta; vegetable-dyed animal tapestries; handcrafted beast boxes (alligator, lion, and zebra), perfect for hiding a treasure or two: even handmade hummingbird feeders for those looking to feed a hungry bird. The shop is located within the Dallas Zoo (621 East Clarendon) to the left of the flamingo pond. For store hours, call the shop at 946-2672.
