Baby, it's going to be cold outside this weekend.

In a Desperate Attempt to Keep Warm, Jerry Jones Fans the Flames of the Dak/Romo Debate. In an interview with The Ticket yesterday, Troy Aikman said he is “dumbfounded” by Jerry’s ongoing implication that there is some choice other than starting Dak Prescott and putting cookies out for Santa. “If Tony ends up getting in the game at some point, great,” Aikman said. “But to dismiss what a young rookie quarterback has done…a great story would be if a rookie quarterback takes this team to a Super Bowl championship. That’d be a great story.” By the end of the day, in a better mood after announcing new openings at The Star, Jerry was back on the Dak bandwagon and confirmed there is a Santa Claus.

Kinder, Smarter People Gather Coats for the Homeless. After Telemundo 39 reporter Fernando Mejia was caught on camera giving the coat off his back to a homeless man last week, Telemundo partnered with NBC 5 and SoupMobile, a Dallas soup kitchen on wheels, to gather and deliver coats and warm clothes to the homeless. Over the past week, 1,048 coats were donated. The warm fuzzies will be handed out on Christmas at the Omni Dallas Hotel, where, for the 12th year in a row, SoupMobile will host 500 homeless people for the night. Give a coat, volunteer, or learn how to put together a Christmas Shoebox for the homeless here.

DISD Trustee Miguel Solis Gets Fired Up About the Increased Use of Force on Students. A report released this week by the nonprofits Texas Appleseed and Texans Care for Children shows that the use of force by Dallas ISD police has doubled, from 106 times in 2011-2012 to 204 times in 2014-15. In two cases, the children were only 6. The report also concluded that tickets and complaints were disproportionately issued to black students. Dallas ISD police chief Craig Miller says the incidents are up due to better reporting, but advocacy groups say less money should be spent on police intervention and more on counseling and restorative discipline. DISD Trustee Miguel Solis says change is going to come.

Zumwalt Middle School Resembles My Shower. Turns out a steam heating system contributed to the recent mold outbreak. Students will be moved to A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School when school resumes January 10.

Exxon Mobil Names Non-Eagle Scout to Succeed Rex Tillerson as Chairman and CEO. Not concerned about the vagaries of Congressional confirmation, Exxon Mobil has named the company president, Darren Woods, as Tillerson’s successor. He is no Eagle Scout. Meaning his ability to start a one-match fire, like Rex and I can (utilizing either the tepee or log cabin methods), is doubtful.

Roast Some Chestnuts and Change All of Your Passwords. Fire up those gas logs, pour yourself a glass of wine, turn on the first episode of Westworld so you can figure out when you should have figured out who the robots are, and change all of your passwords. All of them. Then find some reputable app that will remember them for you. And then tell me what that is.
