“How To Be A Man” is one of Esquire’s go-to subjects, and once a year they dedicate an issue to it. For the most recent one, their June/July issue, they asked Dallas’ own Ben Fountain to contribute a piece. Normally, these things are sort of non-fiction instruction manuals. Fountain’s is a fictional piece, involving Danny Wintermute (great name), a corrosion engineer, and his boss, Vistap. You can read it here. And also, you can hear Fountain read it. If you’re lazy.
