We’re currently in the post-Labor Day “in-between season.” This is the time when we feel we should pull out cozy sweaters and riding boots just because the rest of the world has their fall attire on. This is the season where we are not positive what to fill our weekends with; it’s not time for lake houses anymore and it may be too soon for pumpkin patches. So, what do we do? Eat.

Here is a guide to help you plan your perfect weekend (around food, of course).

 Friday, Sept 9

Dallas Chocolate Festival Movie Night
Join the Dallas Chocolate Festival for a movie night at the Addison Conference center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be wine, food, and delicious chocolate snacks. Tickets for this wine-and-dine-with-chocolate is $100. Plus, it makes for a perfect date night event.

Better Block Market Oktoberfest Edition
If you have always yearned to experience Oktoberfest, but haven’t quite made it to Europe yet, we have the perfect charming local festival for you. At the Better Block Market Oktoberfest, you can find your beer, brats, and pretzels. Indulge in German cuisine and culture with a side of local vendors. On Friday from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., journey to Better Block’s headquarters to get a taste of Germany.

Saturday, Sept 10

Dallas Chocolate Festival 2016
Calling all chocoholics! We have the perfect weekend event for you: the Dallas Chocolate Festival 2016. For the 7th year, Dallas will be providing a wall-to-wall world of chocolate. Vendors from all over the Dallas area will be giving you a taste of their handcrafted cocoa. You will be able to consume your weight in chocolate deliciousness, as well as meals from various food trucks. This festival is selling tickets online at $30 for general admission and will open at 9 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.

Community Beer Company Open House and Tour
It’s always beer season, even when the seasons change. Grab your friends and head to Community Beer Company’s open house tour for a cold brew, food, art displays, and live music. Tickets are available online for discount pricing until Friday evening, but you can also purchase them at the door. Your ticket is good for three drinks, which you can choose from their large variety of offerings. Come hungry, because there will also be food trucks available for delicious eats.

Sunday, Sept 11

Okrapalooza
This Sunday is the 7th annual Okrapalooza. If you salivate for okra, this festival is the place for you. Tickets range from two to five dollars and proceeds go to the Promise of Peace Community Gardens. Get ready for dish tasting, activity tents, cold brews, silent auction, and live music at this okra cook-off.

The Paychecks at The Rustic

With fall approaching and that summer heat starting to fizzle, now is the perfect time to start your Rustic appearances. This weekend The Rustic is hosting a handful of bands including The Paychecks. The outdoor bar and restaurant will also provide their weekly Jam & Toast family style brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal highlights Southern cuisine with dishes like hot chicken, smoked cheddar grits, country baked eggs, donuts, and more. Dive into this country-styled meal this weekend at The Rustic for $16.95 per person. Y’all won’t regret it.
