Join me as I continue on my mission to illustrate that North Dallas has restaurants equal to or better than the hipster areas of Dallas. Last week I discovered Burger Edge. One quick call to the joint produced an interesting conversation.

Owner James Donahoe has burgers in his blood. He is the grandson of Jack Keller (Keller’s) and his uncle is Jake Keller (Jake’s). His new place features build-your-own burgers, sassy sauces, live music, and local craft beers. “I’ve been in the burger business since I was seven years old,” Donahoe says. “That’s when I started cooking fries. I operated a Jake’s and a Keller’s before I struck out on my own.”

I dropped in last night and the place was jumping. The place isn’t much to look at, but the guitarist belting out songs by the Eagles and Tom Petty added to the vibe. The patties are a third-pound of juicy beef melt in your mouth. Donahue uses a hickory roasted garlic pepper seasoning and dips the buns in the burger juice on the griddle before toasting.  Condiments such as the spicy ketchup sass up the fries lightly covered with a garlic salt. If you’re a burger freak, this is place is worth the drive.

You’ll find live music in the evening on Thursday through Saturday and Sunday mornings. They’re hosting a Grand Opening celebration on April 29. Expect lots of local beer makers, music, and burgers.
