Bite by Eddy T in Dallas is Closed

I’ll give talented chef Eddy Thretipthuangsina a big “E” for effort. The talented chef has struggled for success since he left Pakpao. His Bite by Eddy T is now closed.

eddytI’ll give talented chef Eddy Thretipthuangsina a big “E” for effort.

He left his post at Pakpao in January 2014 and moved to Fort Worth to open Bite City Grill, an upscale American food restaurant in the Cultural District. I felt it was such a shame that he’d abandoned his Thai roots. Bite City Grill eventually morphed into Kin Kin Urban Thai and Thretipthuangsina switched to “globally influenced dishes with an Asian flair.” He opened a second location on Oak Lawn in Dallas last July. He closed Kin Kin in Fort Worth and put all of his wishes, hopes, and dreams into expanding Kin Kin across Dallas.

Last November Kin Kin on Oak Lawn closed. Thretipthuangsina didn’t give up. He redid the menu and the space and reopened in early December as Bite by Eddy T.

Bite by Eddy T. closed quietly on April 6. Eddy, if you’re out there, I hope you stay in town. The restaurant business in Dallas is on fire, but it’s also a struggle for independent restaurateurs who do not have the backing of the high end chains moving into town. They are squashing the little guys.
