Expect lots of drinking this weekend and one hell of a hangover come Monday. Be sure to pack some snacks in that personal fanny pack because you’ll want to keep your energy going to hit all the events going on throughout town.
Friday, July 18th
Food Truck Frenzy is ready to throw down and some of the best on-the-go foods will be on hand at Fair Park. Go savory with a Corned Beef on Rye from Gandolfo’s Deli or give in to your sweet side with a large cone of Fat Elvis from What’s Da Scoop?. Actually, do both; definitely both. Admission is free, parking is free and it runs 11 am to 2 pm. You may have work, but this is the time to escape the office for the sake of your stomach and to catch some country tunes courtesy of Songbird Jones.
Saturday July 19th
If I could think of two of my favorites things in life, they may just be happy hour and puppies. Well this Saturday all my dreams (and I am sure yours too) come trues as Hard Rock Café Dallas and Paws in the City come together for discounted drinks and appetizers alongside adoptable (and adorable of course) puppies on the restaurant patio from 5-8 pm. Specials include $4 draft beers, $5 house wines and $6 premium wells. One dollar from each drink and appetizer purchased throughout the night goes to Paws in the City. Be sure to check out Hard Rock’s new menu additions while you’re there. I’ve got my eye on the grilled vegetable sandwich and Oreo cheesecake.
Veritas Wine Room will host a wine tasting today and apparently it’s suppose to be epic. No, seriously, it’s called Epic Wine Tasting No. 11 featuring West Coast Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. From 4:30 until the wine runs dry, guests can sip on 15 (Holy Hangover!) select labels from the West Coast for $30 plus tax. Some names include 2012 Lioco Chardonnay Sonoma County, 2011 Dunstan Chardonnay, Durell Vineyard Sonoma Coast and 2011 Cristom Pinot Noir, Eileen Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon.
As reported earlier in the week for Tipsy Tuesday, Bishop Cider Company will tap their inaugural keg from Dallas’ first cidery. Be a part of history and participate in all the great festivities going down in Bishop Arts District from 3-10 pm.
Also, it’s National Daiquiri Day. ‘Nuff said.
Sunday July 20th
Veritas Wine Room couldn’t let the party end after one night, so they’re inviting you back for another round with Lobster Sunday. Every third Sunday of the month TJ’s Seafood Market and Jon Alexis join forces to bring you their version of Sunday Funday. Come with your lobster bib strapped on from 5-8 pm for a feast of Main Lobster cooked fresh on the spot, PEI Mussels, Clams, Potatoes and Corn. Get your ticket for $35.
Get over that grudge you’re holding against Belgium for knocking the U.S. out of the World Cup and take part in Belgium Independence Day. Why? Because they make great beer, waffles are delicious and we all know they seriously whooped our butts in that game (we salute you Tim Howard). Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in Addison will host a Belgian Beer Brunch combining all Belgium’s great attributes. Featuring special guest Will Sandifer of Duval Moortgat, the morning kicks off at 11 am with a social beer (is there any other kind?) Beermosa made with Ommegang Witte Witbier. A number of pubs will compete for the best Belgian celebration making Monday not so bad. Particularly, Holy Grail Pub will extend their party through the week from July 21 to July 25 with tulip glass giveaways and bold tappings.
