Forget all your preconceived notions about bowling allies. Forget the dark gloomy ambience, the smoke-filled air, the crappy concession stand food.

Enter Bowlounge.

When I entered the warehouse-like building on Turtle Creek and Irving Blvd, it was not the dreary and smelly environment I expected. There was a wall full of local beer taps, large windows offering beautiful natural lighting, throwbacks playing over the speakers, and young families laughing and bowling (there was a very apparently overdue pregnant woman bowling and having a blast- kudos to her!). The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, and they’ll even help order your eats crafted by Twisted Root Burger Co. (think gourmet concession food).

Take your crew and have dinner and a bowl-off. Try the Burger in a Bowl for the satisfaction of a burger and the calories of a salad, or splurge and try the delicious Spicy Goat Burger (incredible). And (a special treat for the parents) enjoy a beer menu chock full of creations from local craft breweries. Also, check their website for the live band schedule every Friday and information on hosting a private party at Bowlounge. Does this place have everything or what?

Games are $4.75 until 4 p.m., and $6.80 after 4 – close. Bowlounge is located at 167 Turtle Creek Blvd.

Happy bowling!
