Beach Day, A “Decks in the Park” After-Party, and Other Summer-ending Events

Summer may be ending but don't tell that to a band called Beach Day.

If you haven’t had enough of these beach- and surf-themed bands, then I have one more for you to squeeze in just before summer ends. They’re called … Beach Day. They hail from Hollywood, Florida, which only adds to the group’s sun-soaked mystique, or lack thereof. They do a decent cover of Carole King’s (and later the Drifters, among others) “Up On the Roof.” King was about 19 when she wrote “Up on the Roof.” This band manages to sound younger than that. They’ll be at City Tavern this tonight, and will be joined by the Chloes and Skating Polly.

Following “Decks in the Park” at Klyde Warren Park this evening, there will be a an after-party at Truth & Alibi. The event is 21-and-up. And you’ll need the password: “Decks2014.”

“Hip Hop Karaoke” will be held at Crown and Harp tonight. In order to make sure they have your tracks, tweet your requests to @HHKDFW. Leo J and Dollar Ben will be the hosts.
