Alan White may be chairman and CEO of the state’s sixth-largest Texas-based banking company and vice chairman of Hilltop Holdings, which merged with PlainsCapital Corp. in 2012. But he remains funny, unpretentious, and plain-spoken, befitting the West Texas native who earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas Tech University.  Though he’s a community leader with numerous awards for supporting philanthropic causes over the years, White says his real talent is inspiring his employees: “How you make people produce and operate is what I’m good at. That’s why I’m out and having lunch with the little guy. I’m not ‘the CEO’; I’m like you.” Next month, the veteran banker will accept his latest honor: the 2016 Henry Cohn Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Defamation League North Texas Region.
