Hot Property: A Far North Dallas Mid-Century Modern with a Massive Fish Tank

On the edges of Far North Dallas, the Prestonwood Estates neighborhood is filled with comfortable, suburban mid-century homes. It’s a nice neighborhood with great schools and parks nearby, says listing agent Mikaela Camacho, but 5908 Meadowcreek Dr. stands out.

Built in 1972, the two-story mid-century home is similar to the others, but it sits on .55 acres, which “is almost unheard of in this area,” Camacho says. Plus, the property feels more private than one typically finds in suburbia. There are mature trees, and the lot extends past the creek that cuts through the backyard. That creek is nice after it rains, Camacho says. “You can definitely hear it flow. It’s super pretty.”

Besides the physical lot itself, the look of the house catches the eye, Camacho says. The whole property has been renovated, with brand-new landscaping and a new, custom steel front door. “They’ve done really everything,” she says of the current owners’ work. “Everything in the home is brand new.”

The owners ripped out the old carpet inside, poured new concrete floors in the downstairs living spaces, and installed white oak hardwoods in the bedrooms. There are new sliding glass doors and automated blinds on the windows. They put in a massive fish tank in the formal living room. They redid the kitchen, painting cabinets, updating appliances, and sourcing leathered aqua quartzite counters. All the bathrooms now have heated toilets and bidets, too. Plus, they reconfigured the old long, awkward primary suite, adding a fifth bedroom to the home while keeping the primary space a showpiece for the home.

The owners did all this in a year, having bought the house during the summer of 2022. Flipping homes is a hobby for them. The owners like moving into homes, renovating, decorating, and moving on to a new house, Camacho says. “Every home that she does about blows me away.”

Camacho says they’re already on to their next house, which they’ve already furnished. So, if you like something in the Meadowcreek house, just ask. “They are willing to sell every single piece of furniture that’s in it,” she says, “so it can come completely furnished, if the buyer wants it to.” And yes, that offer includes the fish tank, Camacho says—and the fish.
