Kenneth Rothfield

Medical City Dallas has named Dr. Kenneth Rothfield as its new chief medical officer. He replaces Dr. Michael Gruber.

As CMO, Rothfield will help advise the hospital’s leading medical experts. Previously, Rothfield served as system VP, CMO, CQO, and patient safety officer at Jacksonville, Fla.-based St. Vincent’s Healthcare, part of Ascension Health. During his time there, hospital-acquired infections reportedly decreased by 50 percent and re-admissions decreased by 20 percent.

Chris Mowan, CEO of Medical City Dallas, said in a statement that Rothfield “brings prior success fostering a culture of patient safety and provides a wealth of experience in clinical care leadership. [Rothfield] has consistently led teams who ensure outstanding quality of care for patients.”

Rothfield earned his bachelor’s degree in history and science from Harvard University and an MBA and a graduate certificate in the business of medicine from Johns Hopkins University. He also earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester.
