Leapfrog Gives Five DFW Hospitals Low Grades for Quality, Safety

Five North Texas hospitals received “D” or “F” grades for healthcare quality and safety in The Leapfrog Group’s annual scoring program.

Coming in at the low end with an “F” was South Hampton Community Hospital in Oak Cliff (formerly known as Renaissance Hospital). Receiving “D” grades were Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, the Texas Hospital for Advanced Medicine, and UT Southwestern’s Zale Lipshy hospital.

Earlier this year, the group announced hospitals that received grades of “A”, “B,” or “C.” This is the first time that the lower grades were revealed.

Of the more than 2,600 hospitals measured in the latest report, 790 received an “A” score, including 22 from North Texas:

  • Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano
  • Centennial Medical Center, Frisco
  • Dallas Regional Medical Center
  • Denton Regional Medical Center
  • Lake Pointe Medical Center, Rowlett
  • Medical Center Arlington
  • Medical Center of Lewisville
  • Medical City Dallas
  • Methodist Medical Center Mansfield
  • Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth
  • Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall
  • Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Azle
  •  Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth
  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest Fort Worth
  •   Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Denton
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Hurst-Euless-Bedford
  • Texas Health Presbyterian Plano
  • USMD Hospital at Arlington
  • Weatherford Regional Medical Center
